Nickie, You are an inspiration!

by Karen Dalton
(London, Ontario, Canada)

Nickie, this article is so refreshing to read. It talks about not just the running accomplishments but life changes and the things we learn and accomplish along the way. Sport, competition, and team has a magical way of teaching us lessons that just cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

You have taken advantage of the opportunities that have come your way to learn so much more than just how to train to be faster! Congratulations on making the most of your talent.

Karen Dalton.

CONGRATULATIONS, NIKKI!!!

by Ed Tufts
(London On Canada)

We, Ruth and Ed, were fortunate in that we could watch and celebrate (as grandparents do) Nikki's achievements in winning many awards while in elementary and secondary school.

Not only did Nikki have an outstanding record, she always encouraged the other girls, and indeed was their sincere friend.

Perhaps Nikki's freshman year was not a write off as she says. I believe it was Nikki's first major disappointment as a runner. Through being "sidelined" because of the injury, watching as opposed to participating, Nikki obviously showed tremendous strength and maturity.

I believe the way Nikki coped with those weeks of waiting helped her as she went on to lots of success at Boston College. We are proud of you, Nikki!!!

Ed

Resilent and Balanced

by Dr. Cathy Utzschneider

Nicola was a student of mine (an excellent one) at Boston College in "Elements of Competitive Performance". Nicola stands out not only as a thoughtful, talented athlete but also as a student who has a balanced perspective on life and as one who is clearly resilient. I look forward to keeping in touch with her and to hearing about her future successes!
