Amanda's Journey

I just love coaching masters athletes and Amanda has been no exception. Whilst she lives in Hobart & I in Sydney that has been no barrier to the coaching relationship with Amanda. I forward her a coaching plan and she follows it to a tee as well as providing me excellent personal feedback which enables us to get the best results.
As Amanda says going to World Titles is very exciting and daunting especially to run for the first time on a brand new surface. No matter what you read and whether your mentor is there or not it is scary and exciting. For me it was great to participate with her and share her various excitements. It was great to be one of her three international racing pals for the meet. PC

Amanda, Great story...I always find it fascinating to hear from people who don't have experience with indoor tracks...particularly flat indoor tracks!!!
In reality, flat indoor tracks were a luxury when I was in college in the 60s. Most of my track meets and training before that was on flat wooden floors or indoor 160 yard dirt tracks...that was a difficult track to run on. At Harvard, the track was so small we could only run a 40 yard dash...which at the time was right up my alley.
Loved meeting you and spending time with you, Peter and Tony. Where else but in Masters Track can one room with their top competitor in a World Championship, and have a grand old time?
Hope to get to Hobart some day.
Love ya kid, Roger Pierce
