The Half Marathon is no longer the ugly stepsister to the more glamorous marathon.
It's a serious event attracting champion runners vying for prize money and fast times. The entrant numbers often out number the longer race.

This event appeals to all kinds of runners from beginners to experienced. To those running for a time or others just wanting to finish.
It's the perfect progression from 10K racing to an eventual marathon if that's your long-term goal. You'll build endurance and get a feel for distance running.
Perhaps you don't have the time to train for the marathon. Or you body is prone to injury. You can fit in the workouts, stay healthy and still get a challenge by tackling the half.
Why not travel to another city or country to race. Get a group of friends together, follow a training program and plan a trip away.
As you increase your miles you'll need a good runners diet to have energy to workout, recover well and stay healthy. Although vitamins and minerals are absorbed better by eating food supplementing your diet with a multi-vitamin may be useful. As a woman runner taking a simple iron supplement may help protect you from becoming anemic.
