coughing up fish oil
by Mary
(USA)
Fish oil is good for lots of reasons - I just hope you are not taking cod liver oil by the tablespoon. My mom gave that to my brother and I for years. Terrible aftertaste!
Unfortunately I can not wish away my EIA by repressing a cough and fish oil. I am glad that works for Larry - but I do not cough at the outset- I wheeze and if I wheeze long enough - my lips turn blue as I run out of oxygen. Needless to say I also slow down (and I am slow enough as it is) and have to stop. Coughing starts after that - after I am tinged with blue and bent over coughing up all the fish oil and other stuff as well.
Perhaps fish oil lessens EIA and EIB - but for some of us - that is not sufficient. If it were - I would buy stock on that Icelandic fish oil company that advertises on the radio and perhaps a fish farm or two in Chile.
I have a TUE for an inhaler - but it is not for the rescue inhaler Larry seems to have - it is a longer lasting one that is to prevent the problem from starting. That and medication I take the night prior to a race or hard track workout does the trick most of the time. Fish oil has lowered my cholesterol numbers - and maybe has aided my EIA -no clue about that. But frankly it will take more than a halibit of fish oil to wean me from my inhaler.
Now I will clam up.
