She's My Sister
by Marie-Louise Michelsohn
(Stony Brook, NY)
I have been privileged to have Sharon as a training partner. She is my sister on and off the track. I really can't put into words what she has meant to my life. A person of great character who I admire more and more. She sees what needs to be done and then digs in and does it. When it comes to training, she does not fool around. When it comes to standing up for people and seeing what's right, she's a real force.
And Sharon is so much fun. She can be incredibly funny - she can keep us going for hours.
By the way, two silvers in the 100m and 200m plus the gold in the 4 x 100 at World's in Riccione doesn't tell the whole story. It took two countries to beat her. One person couldn't do it.

Sharon is a pistol
by peter l. taylor
(fairfax, virginia, USA )
Sharon is a pistol; I have always enjoyed announcing her and then talking to her about the race after she has finished. She and I go back many, many years. She doesn't hold back on how she feels about something, and with her, that's a good thing.
After I announce her the next time I will say, "Sharon, I really juiced it up for you, didn't I?"

Real class ON and more importantly OFF the track
by Francis Anthony Schiro
(NYC NY)
Sharon is a wonderful PERSON. I had been working at the Armory a few years ago and was TOTALLY impressed in how invested she was in helping the younger women. She has helped MANY young girls take that step into college. I have seen her as a role model...mother....and most importantly an INSPIRATION to younger women who need just that. Inspiration and SUPPORT. This is when she "captured" my heart..I had always knew of her track credentials....look it up low 11's in the 100 meters 25 years ago was quite an achievement!!! I saw that Sharon was a "giver" a VERY rare and almost extinct breed in these times. She's NOT invested in telling you about herself she wants to know how YOU are doing...incredible!!! When did you last meet a Masters track athlete like that? Sharon is the "real deal"...She has helped countless young women as well as young men. I am proud to call her my friend. She has built a productive life where she does NOT have to be the center of attention to be honestly happy. I need people like her in my life to remind me of what REALLY matters..helping others. with love and respect..Francis A Schiro
