Inspiring story
This is a terrific motivator -- more proof that it's never too late to take on a new sport.
Sabra -- you've inspired many of my athletes (and me too!). Thank you for sharing, and thanks, Carmel for the profile!

Congratulations to a fellow alumna of Power in Motion
by Elizabeth Stein
(Houston)
Sabra is an inspiration to everyone at Power in Motion, the HARRA-sponsored clinic where she started running in Houston.
She addressed Power in Motion before a recent run, and I can attest that her approach is very low key.
It is humbling to see what a fellow "PIMster" has achieved in such a short time. I'm especially proud of her for helping people see that women over 60 represent a great, untapped potential of athletic ability. Elizabeth Stein PIM alumna (now coach)

inspirational!

What an inspirational story! It's wonderful to know that women can achieve their running goals even if they've started a bit later in life.

Sabra is a smooth operator
by Peter L. Taylor
((Fairfax, Virginia))
Sometimes we track aficionados tend to be a little suspicious of the "road types." We don't expect to see that smooth style that the great tracksters have. I had heard of Sabra before Oshkosh, but I really wasn't prepared for how good she was. Not only that, but I was surprised to find that her form was impeccable.
I especially like the way she dug in over the last 200 meters at Oshkosh on her way to a world mark in the 800. I had the chance to speak to her very briefly and was reminded of the great Karla Del Grande -- Sabra pretended that she was not a star. In fact, she seemed to give the impression that she was someone ordinary. Wow.

She practices what she preaches!!
by Pony Peterson
(Bear Creek, TX, USA)
I'm honored to be a fellow Houston Strider with Sabra!
One time we were talking about how long we'd been running. I was fast approaching that "you don't improve much after you've been running 10 years" anniversary.
I asked her how she felt about it and her response was, "I'm not going to limit myself with that kind of stuff."
It made me take a step back and re-evaluate my own thinking. I've decided to ignore the experts and keep striving for improvement...even though I reached my 10-year-running anniversary this past February.
Thanks, Sabra, for your wisdom, encouragement and inspiration!!

Inspirational Article
I really enjoyed this article. I'm a 68 year old woman and still running, training for a half marathon. I've done 29 full marathons. I'm not gifted like Sabra but she gives good advice in saying not to put a limit to what you can do. I appreciate older women runners who, inspite of their elite status, are willing to inspire the non-elite. I know Karen Bowler and she is also an excellent runner and very down to earth, motivating all levels of runners.
The Houston Striders was founded in the mid 80's by about 30 recreational runners and I was one of them. Now, it's a very large club with coaches, motivators, special training programs and great runners! So good to know Sabra has set World Records! I hope she continues to inspire and motivate the rest of us, mature, veteran women runners (joggers)!

Sabra is a super example
by Ken Stone
(San Diego)
Sabra,
Thrilled to learn details of your life and running career at last. Oshkosh was so busy, it was hard to catch one's breath. My only advice: Smile more! Photo of you and Samantha is just too cute for words -- a highlight of the story.
Accept the kudos of your Texas friends. They represent your fans across the country, including me.
Now that you've discovered your gift, run with it! And be happy to be someone your family and community can look up to.

Terrific story
by Dr. Cathy Utzschneider
This is a terrific interview and subject -- Carmel and Sabra. Thank you! I'm writing a book on women taking up new sports in adulthood. This story can send a woman to Venus! Sabra's modesty is the best.
