Dr. Cathy Utzschneider

Dr. Cathy Utzschneider

Dr. Cathy Utzschneider knows women’s running. She knows the struggles involved and the strategies to overcome them. Starting her competitive running at age 40, after her first child, she’s devoted her academic, professional, and athletic career to women’s running.

As a college professor, researcher, women’s running coach, and formerly world ranked
runner, it’s much of what she does and who
she is.

She has a MBA and doctorate from Boston University (Human Movement), with her dissertation on over 100 masters women runners, and has a column for National Masters News on women and running.

At Boston College she teaches classes on Goal Setting and Competitive Performance. Now she’s site coach for WomenRunningTogether.

Cathy-RunningMarried, with two children, now 12 and 13, Cathy understands the challenges of having a life of balance, of staying focused, achieving goals and keeping things in perspective.

Life can disrupt your efforts. Something distracts you – a stressful project at work, a child upset at school. Your training schedule conflicts with your husband’s, an injury flares up, you question your goals, or those familiar doubts start nagging. Who ya gonna call?

Coach Cathy and WomenRunningTogether can help. We can provide training programs, answer questions, help you integrate running into the rest of your busy life, shape and set goals, start a buddy system, or help you to believe in yourself. Cathy’s developed a running management program that’s worked with many women and she’s here to help you.

If you'd like Personal Mini Coaching/Goal Setting Sessions contact Cathy directly.

For the past 15 years, she’s coached women runners individually, in person and by phone/e-mail, and in groups. In her private coaching practice (MOVE), she’s helped beginners, elites, teens, grandmothers, sprinters, and marathoners achieve running goals both for their own sake and also for balance and accomplishment in other areas of life.

She’s turned walkers into runners, joggers into national competitors. She coaches Liberty Athletic Club, the oldest women’s running club in the US.
